Church Closure Notice January 2026

Trinity URC will close on Saturday 31 January 2026, following a final service led by Revd. Geoffrey Clarke, Moderator of the East Midlands Synod.

The church began life as St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, opening in July 1963 with over 250 members. It was the first church built in Lincoln’s city centre in more than a century.

In 1972, the Presbyterian Church of England united with the Congregational Church in England and Wales to form the United Reformed Church. St. Andrew’s maintained close ties with Newland Congregational Church, and the two congregations merged in 1974 to be known as St. Andrew’s with Newland URC.

The church adopted the name Trinity URC in 2004.

As attendance fell, the Church Meeting made the closure decision to allow members to attend more local places of worship.

There is a Local Ecumenical Partnership at St. Columba’s Church on Brant Road, Lincoln, formed between the United Reformed Church, The Methodist Church and the Church of England. Their services start at 11.00am.
